Motivation
[edit]Many organisations have a website on the Internet or e-mail address allowing users to subscribe to news, service changes, offers, etc via e-mail. Whilst a large number of these pages only allow a user to subscribe for marketing material and offers, there are also pages which are not marketing related and relate to news, announcements, alerts and changes from government organisations, industry bodies, etc. Note this property could also link to mailing list sign-up pages or e-mail addresses for subscription to mailing lists. Discussion
[edit]- Comment I don't think a link to subscribe to anything is really useful. There's a big difference between getting important updates and marketing spam. So if this property is meant for both, I think we'd need some way of qualifying the type of content that can be subscribed to using the link. --Push-f (talk) 09:28, 19 October 2022 (UTC)
- Support I think this would be a good addition to the website properties we have already. -wd-Ryan (Talk/Edits) 19:48, 19 October 2022 (UTC)
- The relationship seems kind of useless if you don't know what type or the subject of the newsletters you are subscribing to. I would prefer if you created items for each of the newsletters that describe what each of them subscribe you to and then a property that related those newsletter items with their organization. - Oppose I don't see the benefit to adding this info to WikiData and it seems like to frequently change, adding a substantial maintenance burden. — The Erinaceous One 🦔 00:45, 27 October 2022 (UTC)
