Wikidata:Usability and usefulness/2024-Data access methods
The Wikidata development team at Wikimedia Deutschland is conducting a survey to gather insights on how reusers access and interact with Wikidata's data. This research is part of our ongoing efforts to improve the services that support Wikidata reuse and make data access more efficient and effective.
Why your input matters: Wikidata's impact grows when its data is reused and reaches a wider audience. However, we know that reusing Wikidata’s data can be challenging, both because of the data itself and the limitations of our current technology. This is why we're asking for your feedback – to help us understand how you're accessing Wikidata’s data now and what improvements are needed.
What we hope to learn:
- How reusers like you access Wikidata’s data today
- What use cases are currently well supported by existing services
- What gaps exist and what use cases aren’t supported well yet
- What new tools or services might better serve your needs

In addition to the survey, we will also be conducting interviews to gather more in-depth feedback. If you're interested in participating in an interview, you can indicate your interest at the end of the survey.
Timeline:
- The survey will be open from October 4th 2024 to October 21st 20204.
- We will begin interviews with reusers in November.
