AdvertisingGlobal Action on Gun Violence (GAGV) filed the “Lawsuit for Survival,” on behalf of Manuel and Patricia Oliver, who lost their son, Joaquin, to a mass shooting in Parkland, Florida in 2018. In suing the US government, the Olivers are reframing gun violence as a human rights issue and hope to give others a privilege their son didn’t have – the right to not be shot.
