Don’t kill me but… I think this is a possible ship for the next ACOTAR book
This is just an opinion, NOT stanning it nor does the idea of this ship come from me shipping other ships, it’s just what I think based on having experience on SJM books and after reading ACOSF.
Okay huh… I actually think this ship might happen in the next book…
Wow G/ynriels are so wild… I made one pro gwyn post that was anti their ship and they went so livid, while completely ignoring points made in all the books such as:
Cassian and Azriel saying Gwyn is very young for fae standards
Cassian calls her A GIRL not A FEMALE like adults are called
It was literally said that FAE ARE CONSIDERED MATURE AT 75
It was said Lady of Autumn was too young to marry Beron at 20
That she was too young when she had Eris at 40
It was said that Rhysand’s mother marrying his father at 18 was too young
It was said that Gwyn at 26 was too young to participate at Great Rite
I have seen the live some pros talked about, and yes Sarah’s words were “she is not a child” but that doesn’t erase all the facts stated above, that are canon and can be found in books. Idk what she doing contradicting herself like this.
Poor Az is getting hate and is called a pervert and a creep and accused of thinking of Elain as a s*ex toy bc he was aroused…
Guys, he was intimately touching SOMEONE HE LOVES, and got aroused, AND SHE DID AS WELL, it wasn’t her pov so it wasn’t the focus, but it was clearly stated that they were both horny because they were in an intimate situation after a year of being good friends/love interests.
You don’t have to like Elriel but stop with this absurd argument, please.
Heads up, while this is no way anti Gwyn (I love her so much tbh) it has a slight anti G*ynriel vibe to it so PLEASE STANS GO LOOK AT POSTS THAT MAKE YOU HAPPY INSTEAD OF THIS. THANK YOU.
This isn’t focused on Gwyn at all, just fae ageing in general, but I have seen stans really pissed about this so just a heads up.
Remember that time In CP when Jude was forcibly drugged, made to strip naked and borderline sexually assaulted, and Cardan not only did jack shit to save her, but also partook in her degradation by making her grovel at his feet?
TFOTA Short Review (More like Rant so if you don’t agree with my opinion then that is completely understandable ❤)
ACTUALLY, IT’S A RANT SO TURN BACK AROUND BECAUSE I DON’T LIKE THE SERIES
INTENSE RANT REVIEW
I just want to say that this book series is…uncanny and idiosyncratic in both good and bad ways.
The book series was fine with its cool looking fae because I was tired of seeing those white/tan broody, cishet and pointy-eared people (Cardan is that but I’m just going to let his tail be the exception)
The worldbuilding is fine, the plot is fine, the plottwist was a really quick turn, the pacing is fine but the trope with the love interest is not fine. The damaged, abusive, bad boy Cardan Greenbriar gets on my nerves because I didn’t like the way the fandom just excuses his bad actions towards Jude (since the first book) because of his dark history.
And I don’t care what letters Cardan wanted to let her read but didn’t. Cardan just didn’t have enough book time to work with an emotional connection with Jude except just pure…lust. I apologize but that’s how it just looks like, and besides them being enemies seemed like those elementary bullies we once had but way worse and I don’t like to just excuse someone’s inhumane behavior because of their abused past.
Jude Duarte is written well.
But Cardan not being in the books would’ve been way better because no offense but Holly Black made him look like a teen who has severe mommy issues and just takes out on this physically violent girl. The dagger scene in book one did nothing to me because the way they are enemies and the way they are attracted to one another is just weird and messed up. But of course, it’s still enemies to lovers because hey! They tell each other they hate each other, he tells her that she’s hideous and that hey! They want to kill each other for no valid reason! 😐
This book series is not for everyone but I just hope that this kind of book series won’t repeat because I’m this 👌close to burning the Cruel Princes series I have when someone says they are goals because their romance turns into violence.
Like he humiliated Jude for a decade, constantly demeans her with insults, just stands and watches while his friends try to harm her and abuse her, shoves her, slaps her, pulls her hair, and threatens her but hey! “He’s a prince and he’s hot and had a dramatic past so let’s just ignore that uwu 😚”
Jude says so many times that he hates him but this bitch will surely break down once he tells her that he finds her attractive. And that makes sense since he has mommy and daddy issues and this girl is just touch-deprived to the bone.
Then Cardan tells her that he hates her because he can’t stop thinking about her and that disgusts him. In my POV that seems like a man that finds his attraction to her disgusting then becomes the love interest. I just hope that this romanticization of relationships from men whose so-called “love” is joined by cruelty, humiliation, and hate will end after 2021 and until the Universe dies. And in my POV of Taryn justifying his actions by saying that faeries love differently than mortals and that their love is a test blah blah blah blah shut up 😐
The worse than he treats the main character the more she’s enthralled by him but of course, this behavior is overlooked because of his swagger, good looks, and the fact that lusts after her. Like Jude doesn’t care about whatever horrible things or actions he does towards her but as long as he finds her attractive and handsome she has complete power over her.
Their relationship throughout the series is just abusive in my POV because cruelty does not equal secret affection. Like this is the kind of boy that our mothers told us that if he pulls our hair it means that they like us and when we grow up we find out that behavior is fucking immature.
Seriously guys? But it’s fine because we’ll never know what it’s like to have someone loathe you before now tell you that they love you even when their actions don’t match up with what they say. Sounds like an abusive relationship eh? But it’s alright since he’s hot and he’s the love interest right?
Wrong, so feel free to continue making fan arts and fanfics because I’ll just keep my opinions with because everyone seems to like it and I’ll probably get death threats and countless 14-year-old stans explaining to me why their love team is the epitome of YA.
Jude deserves so much better because she is so ambitious and so brave she deserved to be courted by a man that is kind, loving, compassionate, supportrtive and one thing that Cardan lacks which is MATURITY.
Anyways I apologize for promising that this will be a short rant review so I’ll stop now. But I hope you get it 💛 Because I’m sick of overhyped books romanticizing things that aren’t love. After all, if a man hurts you intentionally, that is not love. Abuse and love cannot coexist. Jude and Cardan just follows the cycle of abuse and I hope I’m not being delusional to be the only one who doesn’t like the book series and should just dissipate like the Mortal Instruments. But if you like the book series that’s good and I respect your likes babe! Like if you’re a stan and you’re reading this I have no grudge towards you and ily 💜
A master post of all the current hints, parallels, references and some stuff that felt sus that point to Kikyo possibly being the mother of Sesshomaru’s daughters as well as his wife/Why Kikyo is or could be the mother.
First I wanna dedicate this post to my fellow Sesskik fans and friends in the Sesskik shrine group. Ya’ll keep me sane and thanks for pointing stuff out for me, chatting and doing comparisons. You’re all amazing. It’s been fun.
Let’s get started
Reuse of character designs related to Kikyo’s character that were only used once and seen like 18+ years ago. Why reference this characters? Or why even reuse these designs only seen once when you can do a simple little girl and monk and save budget?
Bootleg Sayo and Bootleg Monk Seikai and pupil
Sayo was a little girl that reminded Kikyo of her younger sister Kaede, Kikyo treated her affectionately, along with many of the other village children. However, when Seikai, a traveling monk, attempted to exorcise Kikyo via summoning a dragon in a binding spell, after finding out she was undead, Kikyo kills him in retaliation. The act is witnessed by Sayo, who had unexpectedly been following Kikyo. Realizing that she has frightened Sayo with her true nature and by killing Seikai, Kikyo left the village and resolved never to remain in one place again. Though Sayo asked for Kikyo to wait, Kikyo left anyways, bidding farewell to Sayo and asked for the girl to forgive her.
Note: Like Kikyo herself, Towa adores children and if there’s one in need of help she won’t hesitate to help them and is happy making them smile.
Parallel: the death of Suikotsu and the deaths Kinka and Ginka.
Another Parallel self explanatory
Very sus official merchandise. Can you spot the similarities?
Part 2
Setsuna may possibly have spiritual powers. When Setsuna and Towa fought the peril Tokotsu. Setsuna used a chant she learned from Miroku in combination with Towa’s dragon strike seemingly exorcising him and purifying his soul all while glowing in what seems to be a spiritual aura.
This is further emphasized later with Setsuna saying this about Moroha (the kind emphasis where this may be important or come back later)
The VAs said: “If you look at Towa you can tell who the mother is”
Personality wise while it was mentioned that since Towa was raised by the Higurashis she picked up things from them she also has some similarities with Kikyo including how she acts sometimes, her love of kids and helping others and the fact she doesn’t really want to hurt people whether they be Human or Demon/Yokai (in the first episode of Yashahime Kaede explains that Kikyo was tired of killing demons so she started sealing them)
Now I’m gonna be honest with ya that’s the weirdest version of so called “Black hair” (Yes they called it “Kurokami” and not “Chapatsu” when it’s clearly dark brown hair but hey Kaede had dark brown hair and she is Kikyo’s sister but then again Hisui’s hair doesn’t match his parents either) that I’ve seen in my life and I believe Sunrise is colorblind. Before the episode aired we only had the pv images and her hair is pretty close to Kikyo’s in the dark but then they showed how it how looks in neutral lighting and I was like WTF but here’s the thing though… As a human her face became practically a copy of Kikyo’s. Hells even her hair length changed. Makes you wonder if human Setsuna will have some changes as well (changes that could be spoilers) and that’s why they’re hiding it with that petty excuse of the dream butterfly affecting her
That’s it for tonight. I’ll post a part 3 later but before I go doesn’t this scene of the Twins and Kaede seem “Familial” to you? Cause that’s the feeling it gave me.
Come on, SessKik fam, you can do better than this.
You wanna know what Setsuna’s moth powers are reminiscent of?
This.
Kikyō literally uses a similar power in Inuyasha: The Final Act Episode 07 (The Mausoleum of Mount Azusa) to cleanse Naraku’s webs.
- Kikyo has been name dropped and called back more (to the point where it has been almost every episode lol). If Rin or someone else is the mother, the show would at least try to remind the old audience or introduce to the new who the character was, to foreshadow their return just saying.
- There are scenes in Yashahime that can be paralleled to Kikyo in the OG. Ex. Bootleg Sayo, Kinka and Ginka scene and references (Bootleg Monk Seikai).
- Setsuna’s chant and hand sign (spiritual). Towa has shown to be more demonic in power, though her actions in the daimyo’s lair in episode 7 are sus, the two people (even the one who was a demon) didn’t see. Like she was fighting in a different plain.
- Kikyo makes the most sense thematically. The twins being born around the same time as Moroha, the daughter of her reincarnation. Towa being transported to and living with the Higurashis, the family of her reincarnation. Setsuna goes to Kaede (her sister) and lives with her for a time. Kohaku takes Setsuna under his wing, which is poetic, cause Kikyo took Kohaku under hers and he does the same for her daughter. Kohaku cared a lot about Kikyo during their journey together, Kohaku begins to have respect and concern for Kikyo, even worrying when she puts herself in danger. Kohaku mentions his main purpose for staying with Kikyo to Sango as, Kikyo’s presence calms his spirit and he feels as if sins are cleansed and redeemed around her. When Kikyo dies, Kohaku is guilt-ridden that he could not protect her and is resolved to carry out her mission to destroy Naraku with his shard and Kikyo ofc had begun to care for Kohaku a lot and was very protective of him. As her last act of compassion, Kikyo withdrew her spirit/light and power from the now-contaminated Shikon Jewel and instead use it in resurrecting Kohaku. This power and light is what keeps him alive today.
- Despite some controversy by some fans or haters She is a very popular as stated in recent Official Inuyasha character popularity polls (she was 4th place in the last one)
Popular character who was the big deal in the OG series, worthy of being the mother of the main protagonists and hype for the mystery ofc it would surprise everyone.
- Towa definitely looks and feels more like Kikyo, when she is serious and caring. She just gives off those Kikyo vibes. People might mistake her seriousness for Sesshomaru, but Towa is like her mother, as the voice actors have said.
- Her connection to the original plot, Inuyasha, the jewel, the sacred tree, etc
- Inuyasha side eyeing Sesshomaru like he is suspicious and very angry at him in the opening which in a recent interview it has been stated to have meaning.
- Towa and Setsuna having the pearls could have Kikyo’s doing taking her past actions and powers into consideration (plus I think it’s also a mixed reference to kagome having the jewel inside her at the beginning and Inuyasha’s black pearl in his eye that the twins have pearls in them too)
That’s all for now
Merry Xmas!
Part 6
When Setsuna threw her Naginata at Totetsu in this latest episode it gained a certain spiritual aura for a few seconds
Part 7
A friend pointed this other parallel to me
Kikyo (OG EP 32) & Towa (HNY EP 7).
Towa’s capture seemed reminiscent of when Kikyo got captured.
Part 8
So me and my fellow Sesskik peeps are looking at the new Yashahime promo image/poster and we’re all like
Then we remembered the theory/headcanon that Moroha’s bow it’s from Kagome’s school uniform and then it hits us that Kikyo’s priestess clothing also has a bow…
