Does Bestie know that Armand isn’t gay like Louis? I doubt he’d use the label of bisexual, but is she aware that he is essentially bi?

This is such a good question. If I’m being fully honest, the realization that bestie would likely never know that Armand’s essentially bi unless someone told her (and that isn’t something that would necessarily casually come up between them) didn’t occur to me until semi-recently 😭.

I feel like bestie might think that Armand isn’t gay like Louis based on certain stories and other things, but she doesn’t know in that no one has directly told her.

Someone sent an ask recently mentioning that bestie could find out that Armand has had relationships with women in the past during the scene where Armand tells Daniel about all of the people in the coven he had hooked up with in the past.

I’ve been seeing a lot of people on TikTok analyzing Lestat’s jealousy when it comes to Louis and his relationship with Claudia. All of them attribute it to Lestat’s incestuous relationship with his mother, which I don’t know enough about to speak in depth on, but I’ve been hearing that he was the one trying to instigate it (whether that’s true or not I’m not sure). Whether he did or didn’t, I do agree that it plays a role in how he perceives Louis and Claudia’s relationship, and what assumptions he might make about it. In the book they do have an incestuous relationship as well, Louis and Claudia kiss, he describes her (sometimes) in a very romantic or sexual manner, and she voices jealousy towards his lovers. But the thing is, they didn’t keep that in the show, so Lestat’s jealousy (and reason for being jealous) makes less sense. Lestat is a very possessive person, so any kind of jealousy on his part makes sense, but I definitely think the way it was portrayed in the show should’ve been changed. A great example would be the episode where Louis is looking through a pile of newspapers to try and figure out where Claudia could be. He’s despondent, trying to focus on what Lestat’s saying but not really caring at the same time, and the way Lestat responds to Louis isn’t proper. I don’t blame him for feeling neglected, but it’s the way he voiced it and brought up their sex life in the same breath that’s gross. Plus, that scene earlier on where he tells Claudia she’s not his type, when a normal response would’ve been disgusted and discomfort at the prospect of sleeping with your child, which is what Louis was clearly feeling. Since the TV series hasn’t ended yet I don’t know for sure what they’re keeping about everyone’s backstories, which makes it hard to analyze the characters, but the type of jealousy Lestat displays in the show didn’t feel right. And I also think that his jealousy with Louis is as simple as the fact that he just doesn’t like sharing, he said so himself when they argued about the openness of their relationship, but I think he doesn’t like sharing at ALL. Regardless of the type of relationships Louis makes.

This brings up some really interesting points I hadn’t thought about!!

Lestat’s perception of the relationship that exists between Claudia and Louis feels so incredibly layered, especially in the show because of the removal of any genuine/serious implications of incest between the three of them.

I do think it’s worth noting that generally, the relationships in the books are a lot more fluid than in the show. I’m not saying this in an ‘incest is okay’ way, I’m just point this out because I think the more traditional family structure the show leaned into did impact Lestat’s jealousy.

some bestie family lore (nepo baby allegations), bestie and daniel meeting, a big unhinged louis moment followed by an even greater unhinged armand moment in order to fix the situation

also i’m not fully sold on this but i feel like armand would convince bestie to consume his blood as a way of feeling ‘bonded’ to her, but idk maybe it’s just bc i’ve been watching a lot of yellowjackets

The instincts that guide one towards self preservation are much easier to suppress than most realize. For example, all it took to get you to agree to enter the heart of a coven of vampires without the one vampire that would care enough to keep something from happening to you was the invocation of your pride.

Things had seemed so simple, so straightforward when Armand first came to you. He told you that your presence at their show would be much less distracting if you were to sit in on their rehearsal first. The offer felt like an excuse to arrange some sort of accident to get rid of you without alienating Louis, but when Armand took your hesitation as a sign of fear, you weren’t left with much of a choice.
