A missing Finnish woman who disappeared after boarding a yacht off the coast of India has been found, says a British NGO. After her family members reported her missing two weeks ago, the UK-based Detained in Dubai says she has been located and was on an Emirates plane on her way back to Finland on Thursday.

The Finnish Foreign Ministry later said that the woman had been found and had been in touch with her family, the newspaper Helsingin Sanomat reported on Thursday evening.

Detained in Dubai said they received confirmation of the Finn’s return trip from her family members. However, her brother told Finnish commercial broadcaster MTV that he could not confirm the report. Nor could the Finland's National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), it said.

According to the NGO, the United Arab Emirates released the missing Finn as well as a US-French national who was part of the same group reported missing. Based on reports by the NGO, the missing Finn and the US-French national were travelling with a daughter of the ruler of the Emirate of Dubai in an apparent plot to smuggle her out of the country.

The location of the daughter of Dubai’s ruler remains unknown.

The Finnish woman, aged 41, disappeared two weeks ago after boarding a luxury yacht headed to India. The NBI said on Tuesday that it was looking into her disappearance.
