Eva Wahlström successfully defended her World Boxing Council (WBC) super featherweight championship title in Las Vegas on Friday night against US challenger Ronica Jeffrey.

The 10-round bout ended in a draw, with one judge awarding the encounter to Jeffrey 100-90, while another tipped in Wahlström’s favour at 96-94. A third gave an even score at 95-95.

Friday night was the fifth time that Wahlström defended her title, which she has held since April 2015.

During her professional career, the 38-year-old Finn has won 32 fights with three knockouts (KOs), lost once and drawn twice.

At 36, Jeffrey had claimed victory in 17 bouts in her career with one KO and lost just once before the Wahlström fixture.
