North Savo is home to the winners of a 92 million euro jackpot that constitutes the biggest ever lottery win in Finland, reports the state gambling monopoly Veikkaus.
The winning ticket was purchased at a K-Supermarket in Siilinjärvi, and according to tabloid Iltalehti it was purchased for a 50-strong syndicate.
“The win went to a good group,” store manager Jyrki Huttunen told IL. “There has been a general syndicate in this shop, and there are 50 happy people.”
The jackpot sum would be enough to pay off the local municipality’s 74.3 million euro debt in its entirety and, according to the council’s website, is equal to all taxes paid in the 20,000-population town last year.
This win was the sixteenth time the Eurojackpot winning ticket has been purchased in Finland.
