On Monday the Finnish Red Cross is dispatching staff and resources from its logistics centre in Tampere to Ukraine to assist victims of Russia's invasion.
The Finnish branch of the humanitarian group said the shipment includes a small logistics office as well as two cars.
The field office will coordinate the distribution of aid to those in need, with staff expected to travel to Ukraine on Wednesday.
"Delivering aid from Ukraine's internal borders is currently very challenging due to the violence and the ever-changing security situation," head of international disaster relief at the Finnish Red Cross Marko Korhonen told Yle.
"The task of the logistics unit will be to plan and implement a transport connection from Lublin, Poland, onwards so that relief supplies can be safely delivered to Ukraine and distributed to the most vulnerable there."
Tampere-based daily Aamulehti reported (in Finnish) that the first batch of aid supplies — including tents, blankets and sleeping pads — were sent from the logistics centre in the city to Ukraine on Friday.
