Finns Willing To Shoulder More Climate Responsibility

Most people in Finland say that more economic responsibility for global climate change should be taken here than in the developing countries.

A survey commissioned by the Tampere-based newspaper Aamulehti found that over 60% of respondents take the view that the Finns should pay more per capita to fight climate change than the populations of developing nations.

The highest rates of backing for shouldering greater responsibility were among women, residents of southern parts of the country, and urban dwellers.

Nearly 80% of those questioned in the survey by the Taloustutkimus polling service would like to see a commitment to action on climate change by developing countries as a condition for receiving development aid from Finland.
