Once someone is granted a driving permit, the first two years are a probationary period. Multiple driving infractions during this period lead to the license being revoked until the motorist passes another driving test.
Four years ago, some 600 young motorists had their permits taken away. That figure has skyrocketed to 900 for just the first half of this year.
After the probationary period, the driving license becomes permanent and driving violations will only result in suspension.
