The Russian-born man who was born in 1981, and who now lives in Britain, is suspected of having sent women to Britain to work as prostitutes. Finnish officials say that there is no indication that the activity would have anything to do with Finland.
In April this year another Finnish man was sentenced to eight years in prison for running a prostitution ring and sending women to work in Finland.
Latvian police say that more arrests may be forthcoming in the coming days. Under Latvian law, human trafficking carries a sentence of between 10 and 15 years in prison.
