Sales Slow of Nicotine Replacement Products

Sales of nicotine patches and chewing gum have not risen significantly in shops, kiosks or gas stations in Finland. Sales are more active in larger stores where the selection is at least double that of smaller shops.

Nicotine products generally cost the same at pharmacies and shops.

Municipalities grant sale permits themselves, therefore nicotine patches and gum cannot be found in every shop.

Nor are permits the only thing hindering sales. Shops and kiosks in Turku obtained permission to sell the nicotine patches and gum in the beginning of April, but the products could not be found in many stores until June.

Smoking has not died down in Denmark although sales of nicotine replacement products have risen. A possible reason may be that those who smoke do so when allowed. In smoke-free areas, they may be making use of nicotine replacement products.
