The issue at hand involves about EUR 100 million, which is to compensate farmers for the loss of EU subsidies.
Juha Korkeaoja, the Centrist Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, said in an interview with YLE Television News that he believes that the Ministry of Finance wants to study the matter more.
Korkeaoja said that the common goal is to resolve the matter in a way that minimises the impact on farmers.
The Finnish Union of Agricultural Producers and Forest Owners expressed its disappointment that no agreement was reached, and called for a decision on the matter by next week's government meeting at the latest.
