The MP claimed that a reduction in the rate at which mortgage interest is deducted from income tax would not hurt normal families.
Kataja said on YLE’s A-Studio talk show on Monday that the percentage at which mortgage interest is allowed could drop from 28 to 24 percent.
The politician, from Satakunta in south-west Finland, also said that Finns’ working lives should be lengthened in order to avoid harsh cuts in government expenditure.
