STX Turku Secures New Deal

STX Finland's Turku shipyard has secured a significant new deal to build a multi-purpose deck cargo vessel. The environmentally-sound ship will provide jobs for 300 workers at the shipyard.

The vessel, ordered by the Finnish cargo firm Gaiamare, will be 105 metres long and used for transporting special loads such as parts for wind turbines. It will be delivered to Gaiamare during spring 2012.

STX Turku is famous for building the world's largest cruise ship, The Allure of the Seas, among others.
