The Wendy House playgroup in Turku celebrated the British royal wedding by hosting a mini enactment of the event. The celebration included the playgroup's very own bridal couple as well as cake and "sima," the traditional Finnish drink enjoyed over the May Day holiday weekend.
The young bride and groom were asked whether they wished to cut the wedding cake, to wish they both replied "I do."
Miia Auvinen from the playgroup says that they have been rehearsing the event for the last couple of weeks. As with the real royal wedding, special attention was paid to perfecting the wedding dress.
The children from Wendy House, visited by Queen Elizabeth in 1976, sent a special card to Buckingham Place to congratulate the royal couple on their marriage.
More than a billion people across the globe are estimated to have followed the royal ceremony in Britain. The best kept secret of the day, the bride's dress, was finally revealed as being ivory with lace sleeves and a 2.7 metre train. Its designer was Sarah Burton from the Alexander McQueen fashion house.
