Farmers protested spending cuts and tax hikes proposed in next year’s budget. The Central Union of Agricultural Producers and Forest Owners (MTK) points out that the budget for next year would slash tens of millions of euros from agriculture and forestry.

According to the MTK, farmers suffer from tax increases more often than the rest of the population.

Demonstrators will call on the government to ensure responsible and profitable domestic production of food and wood. The farmers also hope that the parliament will reject spending cuts on agriculture when handling the government’s budget proposal.

The government submitted its budget proposal to the parliament last week.
