Laiho worked as a doctor in geriatric care in southern Finland, most recently at a healthcare centre in Nummela in Vihti.

The case has caused a public furore and police detained the man on Wednesday. According to police, Laiho denies any wrongdoing and says he studied medicine in St. Petersburg.
