Russian Computer Problems Bring Lorry Queues to Border
Lorry queues formed on Thursday and Friday at three crossings at the Russian border. AT 3:30 P.M. on Friday, the queue to the Vaalimaa crossing was 42 kilometres long. A temporary parking area for lorries waiting to cross into Russia was set up west of Summa between Hamina and Kotka on the south coast.

The backup was reportedly caused by problems in the computer system on the Russian side of the border.
On Friday afternoon, lorries were crossing through at Vaalimaa at a rate of between 200 to 300 a day. Normally about 500 vehicles a day are processed through the crossing.
The situation is expected to ease once Russia solves the problems that arose from an update of its computer system.
