Air Passengers to Present Tickets at Security Control

As of Thursday passengers departing from EU airports must present their tickets at security control checkpoints. A new EU regulation requires that all departing passengers prove their intention to travel.

Finland’s aviation authority, Finavia, urges travellers to arrive at airports on time and to keep tickets handy when passing through security.

Flight tickets and printouts of e-tickets can be used as verification of the intention to travel. Boarding passes printed out from the internet and reservation confirmations sent as a text message or e-mail displayed on a mobile phone or a laptop are also accepted.

Finavia says passengers who have become accustomed to paperless air travel should be aware that flight information stored on airline loyalty cards or credit cards will not be valid for verifying travel plans.

Tickets of transfer passengers arriving from outside the EU will also be checked.
