In a number of cities, including Helsinki and Vaasa, classes begin Monday. In some other communities, children begin school on Tuesday. The school year ends in all Finnish schools on June 4 next year.

Police are making a special effort to enforce traffic safety this week, paying special attention paid to driving behaviour, driving speed, pedestrian safety, and obeying traffic lights.
