According to a study by the Federation of Finnish Financial Services, 25 percent of Finns already have a private health insurance plan. Finnish citizens and permanent residents are eligible for healthcare provided by the public sector.
However an increasing number of Finns say certain individuals should not rely on the public healthcare system. According to the study, 75 percent of the respondents said persons with children and loans should buy insurance. Sixty-two percent of Finns said that insurance is important for those living alone.
Last year, Finnish firms were especially keen on purchasing insurance for their employees.
