The company has begun redundancy talks at its Vantaa facility. Tikkurila, a subsidiary of Kemira, also has large production facilities in Poland, Russia and Sweden. The company sells its paints in about 40 countries

Meanwhile Albany International announced on Friday that it is closing its factory in Helsinki this spring. The company makes belts for paper machines. Redundancy talks with 130 employees begin on Wednesday.

And PKC Group, which makes electronics and data transfer systems, says it will furlough all 250 employees at its facility in Kempele, near Oulu. The length of the layoffs will range from one week to more than three months depending on staff positions. They will be carried out between February and June. PKC blames the layoffs on weaker demand.
