Home Drug Tests on Sale in Pharmacies

The sale of do-it-yourself drug tests has taken off in pharmacies. The tests, which have been available in some Finnish areas for months, are now offered in nearly 20 pharmacies in Finland.

Parents of children and teenagers are the most frequent purchasers of the quick test. School children are not systematically tested for drugs. However, they can be tested by schools if there is reasonable cause.

Many drug abuse organisations are resisting the public sale, saying that it is far better to leave the testing to professionals. They also question the tests' reliability and the objectivity of those carrying out the tests.
