Finland To Be Reimbursed for Helicopter Delay

The Finnish Defence Forces will be getting 16 million euros in reimbursement for the delay in deliveries of the NH90 Tactical Transport Helicopters which it has on order, according to the newspaper Aamulehti.

The Defence Forces believe that the NH90 will get Finnish type certification by the beginning of February, after which it can be put into service.

The NH90 Tactical Transport Helicopter, designed and produced by a multi-national European consortium based in France, only received its first type certification, in Germany, at the start of this month.

According to contract terms, the first NH90s were supposed to be delivered to Finland in October 2004.

The reimbursement being offered for the delay is approximately equivalent to the single unit price of the aircraft.
