Designer Bertel Gardberg Dies

A pioneer in the field of Finnish silver ornament design, Bertel Gardberg, has died at the age of 90.

Born in 1916 in Tammisaari, Gardberg is considered as the creator of modern silver ornament design in Finland.

He made his breakthrough in the 1950's with designs of communion cups and silverware. He also used stone as a material.

Gardberg was one of Finland's most internationally renowned designers. He won several prizes and was gained the tile of Academician in 1982.
