Finnish Athletes Face More Doping Tests

Finnish athletes face more doping tests in the future. The Minister for Culture and Sport Stefan Wallin plans to increase doping tests from the current level of 1,500 to around 2,000 annually.

More cash to finance the extra tests will be acquired during the next round of budget talks.

Finnish athletes are currently adequately tested by international standards. However, the new Minister wants more testing to prevent future embarassment.

Wallin says the Ministry contemplates a more vigorous doping test programme throughout the life of the current parliament.
