Pharmacy Strike Expands on Monday

A strike by pharmacy staff is set to widen on Monday, after negotiations held with the National Conciliator mediating failed. Bargaining is scheduled to continue on Tuesday. The Association of Finnish Pharmacies says that some pharmacies will remain open even if the strike expands: only about 50 smaller pharmacies will close down from Tuesday. A total of 468 Finnish pharmacies - 58 percent of all pharmacies in Finland, will be affected by the strike. The union representing Finnish pharmacists is demanding pay hikes of an average 500 euros a month during the next two to three years. YLE
