Pharmacy Strike Comes to End

An agreement was reached Friday evening in the pharmacists' dispute over wages. The Finnish Pharmacists' Association has accepted a plan to increase salaries by over 14 percent. According to the agreement, pharmacists' and dispensers' salaries will increase by 14.2 percent. This adds up to an average pay raise of 400 euros a month over the next two years and nine months. President of the Association, Inka Puumalainen, said that the group is very happy with the result. Negotiations Difficult On Friday morning, a fresh effort was made to mediate an end to the pharmacists' strike. The last round of talks broke off on Tuesday. Negotiations had been going on for two weeks. By the end of the dispute, 60 percent of the country's pharmacies were involved in the strike. YLE
