Paper production at Stora Enso's Summa factory ends Wednesday. The last running paper-making machine winds down Wednesday evening. The factory's first paper machine began production in 1955. By the early 1970s, the mill had three machines. In 2003, the first machine was retired when book paper production began at the factory. The Summa factory has been the area's largest employer, following the Hamina municipality. Nearly 450 workers will lose their jobs due to the plant's closure. YLE
