Estonian PM Visits Helsinki

Prime Ministers Andrus Ansip of Estonia and Matti Vanhanen of Finland meet in Helsinki on Wednesday to discuss EU issues, including the Lisbon Treaty and the EU's climate and energy policy. They will also discuss Finnish-Estonian and EU-Russian relations, in addition to the bloc's Baltic Sea strategy.

The prime ministers will be presented with a report by Ambassador Jaakko Blomberg and Gunnar Okk, Head of Administration of the Nordic Investment Bank on development of Finnish-Estonian relations.

The two were instructed to look for ideas on how Finland and Estonia, along with other countries of the Baltic Sea area might respond to the challenges of globalisation, while taking into consideration the goals of the EU's Lisbon Strategy. The report especially focuses on science, technology, and innovations.
