Mom's Psychosis Increases Kids' Early Mortality

A mother's psychosis can seriously affect her children's health even once they've grown into middle-age, according to new research conducted by the National Public Health Institute.

The children even have a higher risk of dying young -- as much as twice the normal risk in some age groups. The effect on mental and physical health was detected in children even if they did not suffer from mental illness themselves.

In addition, if the mother attempts suicide, it significantly increases the chances of her children doing the same.

The National Public Health Institute studied the mortality rate of these children from ages 16 to 45.
