Finnish peacekeepers in northern Afghanistan came under fire on Tuesday. The troops were on a routine patrol when they were attacked by small arms and grenades.

None of the Finnish peacekeepers were injured in the attack. The Defence Ministry says no damage was reported. Officials also say the number of attackers is unknown.

Finnish crisis management troops were caught up in several firefights last month in Afghanistan. The fighting sparked a debate in Finland on whether or not peacekeepers are participating in a war.
