On Friday, the news agency AFP reported it had procured an EU commission proposal which called for significant cuts in agricultural subsidies.
Some 47 percent of last year's EU budget of 116 billion euros went to agricultural subsidies. In 1988, around 61 percent of the budget was allocated for agricultural subsidies.
