MP Advocates Zero Tolerance for School Bullies

Member of Parliament Jarmo Korhonen, who's also the Centre Party Secretary, wants to establish a working group to brainstorm ways to improve safety in schools. Of primary importance, he believes, is cracking down on bullying.

Korhonen feels the shooting massacres which occurred at Jokela a year ago and Kauhajoki this autumn have shattered the peaceful atmosphere that should permeate schools. Both shooters were bullied in school.

He says that schools should take an absolute zero-tolerance policy toward bullying.

Korhonen added that increasing a sense of security in schools will take years. Stricter gun laws and more crisis help are not enough on their own, he says.
