Police who were filmed using pepper spray and batons when they arrested a naked man in Tampere in July will not face charges.

Their actions caused uproar on social media when a film emerged showing an angry naked man banging on the windscreen of a bus in the Hervanta district of Tampere. Police tried to arrest the man, who appeared to be disorientated and bit one of the officers.

A criminal investigation has now found that there are no grounds to charge the police involved, the Pirkanmaa prosecutor announced on Wednesday. The man involved in the incident, however, will face charges of assault and resisting arrest. Pirkanmaa district court will hear the case in the new year.
