Christmas Eve has not seen any serious traffic accidents, although dense snowfall and swirling winds have affected visibility in southern Finland, reports the Finnish Transport Agency.

A bus transporting three passengers ran into a ditch in Espoo on Monday, but no one was injured.

Let it snow

Ten centimteres of fresh snow is expected to arrive in the south on Tuesday, Christmas Day. Milder conditions are forecast to set in along the southern coast, where the mercury will rise to zero between Monday and Tuesday.

"The weather will mainly stay below freezing over the coming days, but the temperature will fluctuate between zero and -15 degrees Celsius," said Yle meteorologist Anne Borgström.

Central and northern Finland can meanwhile expect more bone-chilling—but dry—weather through Wednesday, Boxing Day.
