Good reviews for e-prescriptions

The city of Helsinki says its e-prescription system launched last month has been a success.

Nearly all prescriptions are expected to migrate into a  national database by next spring.

Eighty percent of all prescriptions are already paperless, according to Raija Puustinen, who's in charge of the city’s public health clinics.

She says patients have welcomed the change, which eases prescription renewal.

"You don’t need to pick it up at the health centre anymore, you can get it at the pharmacy and receive your medicine by showing your Kela card," Puustinen explains.

Helsinki’s dental clinics are also on track to abandon hard prescriptions in the coming months.
