Police have received several reports that there have been no sightings for several weeks of the five-member wolf pack known to roam the area.

A criminal investigation has now been launched to determine if the wolves have fallen victim to poachers. They are looking into the possibility that one or more people may have illegally hunted down the animals.

Police officials themselves took the initiative of registering a formal criminal complaint against person or persons unknown.

If recent traces of the pack are found, the investigation will be dropped.
