Saturday night continued to be busy throughout much of the country for Finnish police officers. Drunk driving and assaults were the two main causes of calls.

Early Sunday morning at 6:30 am, two young men were seriously after their car swerved off the road, flipped over and burst into flames off Route 51 in Karjaa. A heroic passersby jumped in to help and managed to remove the windshield and rescue one of the men from the flames before emergency crews arrived and pulled the second man from the car.

Both men were under 20 years of age. Police are investigating the cause of the accident.

To date, 13 people have died over the Midsummer weekend. Five drowned, six died in traffic accidents, one was hit by a train, one died in a beach-side accident, which is being investigated, and one was killed in violent crime.
