Police services to get new look

The Finnish police service will undergo a visual identity revamp from the beginning of next year. The new look will feature on the police force’s online services, paperwork, stationery and vehicles.

The overhaul comes as part of general structural and governance reforms planned for the national police service.

Police Commissioner Mikko Paatero says that the programme of reforms provides a timely opportunity to engage in the revision and modernisation of the police service.

"We want to communicate the fact that people are served by one unified police force," said Paatero in an official release.

The so-called collective identity of the police service will be redefined, with changes being introduced when new police stations commence operations. The basic shades used by the service will undergo a makeover and new colours, tones and symbols will come into play.

Despite the reforms, the boys in blue will retain their traditional look on the streets of Finland. Police uniforms are not included in the makeover.
