According to Yle meteorologist Henri Nyman, it's possible that the Finnish record will be broken today. "The temperature can still rise a few tenths of a degree, though at this time in the afternoon we are usually at the highest readings," says Nyman.

Nyman says it's quite common to have temperatures near +30 degrees Celsius in Finland in May.

"Last year on the last day in May, the +30 degrees Celsius record was broken in Utsjoki. But it's not that unusual. Humidity is high, so it feels even warmer than it is," says Nyman.
