Eurozone Finance Ministers are gathering in Luxemburg on Thursday 19 June, with a meeting of European Union Finance Ministers the following day. Antti Rinne, who recently replaced Jutta Urpilainen as SDP chair and Finland’s Finance Minister, will not, however, be journeying to the summit.
”Next week I am going to prioritize the Finnish situation and the small government talks. These talks will be setting the most important points of the government term. In my view, it’s more important for Finland’s sake to stay at home to take care of important things such as economic growth and raising employment levels,” Rinne says in a release.
Finland’s five government parties are holding talks on the government program on 18 and 19 June. The Parliament is to vote on a new Prime Minister and government programme after Midsummer.
In Luxemburg, Eurozone ministers will be discussing the austerity measures of Cyprus, as well as Greece and the bank union. Finland is represented by civil servants. According to Rinne’s release, he will be taking part in the next meetings in early July.
