Overnight dip in temperatures

Overnight temperatures slipped below the freezing point at a dozen official measuring stations around the country overnight, including some spots in the south of the country.

The lowest official overnight temperature of -4C was recorded at Kauhajoki in South Ostrobothnia.

Sub-zero readings were seen at about a dozen measuring stations maintained by the Finnish Meteorological Institute, mainly in Ostrobothnia, North Karelia and in Kainuu.

More southerly areas also experienced a cold night, with a reading of -0.1C at Hämeenlinna.
