On Thursday, the high pressure will weaken and give way to the east. A stormy front will spread from the west during the day, most likely bringing with it rain and thunderstorms.
Afternoon thunderstorms will be most common in southwestern Finland, extending up into the Ostrobothnia region as the weekend nears. The unsettled fronts are moving very slowly and may give rise to localised heavy rains and strong thunderstorms.
Check FMI warnings to stay up to date as heavy rain and electrical storms may create dangerous conditions across large parts of the country.
In the north and east the weather will be dry and sunny in many places. However, the stormy weather will progress very slowly eastwards, eventually dissipating around central Finland on Friday.
According to the current forecast, the weather will dry up over the weekend, with some more localised patches of wild weather possibly cropping up.
The heat is likely to continue in most parts of the country, only in Lapland will the weather cool down by Saturday.
