Yle's TV1, TV2, Fem and Teema channels, as well as the commercial channels Fox and Ava, went off the air in the Helsinki region at 7.23 pm Thursday due to a transmitter problem. Normal service was restored shortly before 8.30 pm.

Technicians repaired the disruption at the Kivenlahti transmitter in Espoo, which is operated by an external company, Digita. The exact cause is still unclear, says Digita.

During the interruption, Yle channels could be viewed online through the Areena service. Yle's HD channels continued to operate normally.
