A Finnish woman has been elected to chair the European Youth Forum (YFJ). She is Johanna Nyman, a student from Vaasa living in Helsinki. She ran uncontested.
Nyman has been an active member in the Guides and Scouts from Finland organisation and in Finlands Svenska Skolungdomsförbundet, the Swedish-speaking School Student Union of Finland. Since 2008, she also worked at the division of international politics at Allianssi, the Finnish Youth Cooperation. Nyman studies Environmental Change and Policy at the University of Helsinki.
The EYJ chooses a new chair every two years. The Youth Forum represents dozens of millions of young Europeans via its 98 member organisations. Its goal is to actively represent youth interests, especially in the EU, the European Commission and in the UN.
