S Group said the contaminated packages had been on sale in its Prisma, S Market, Sale and Sokos outlets across the country. The retailer explained that it was pulling the product of store shelves because of a plastic shard that broke off from the production line of supplier HK Scan and was ground up with the meat before it was packaged.
The company said the recall affected 700-gram packages of pork-beef minced meat sold between January 20 and 22. It called on consumers to be on the lookout for small fragments of blue plastic.
The products in question carry the bar code 6414893502482 and have a best-before date of January 28.
Consumers are advised to return the labels of the affected products to the point of purchase for a full refund.
