Marimekko leadership rejigged

The iconic Finnish fashion label Marimekko is getting a new CEO. Tiina Alahuhta-Kasko steps into the position after the annual general meeting on April 9.

The new Marimekko chief isTiina Alahuhta-Kasko, who has worked in the company since 2005. Her previous Marimekko positions include Chief Operating Officer and Chief Marketing Officer. Marimekko's former CEO Mika Ihamuotila will take over the chair of Marimekko's board. 

As the Chairman of Marimekko’s Board of Directors, Ihamuotila will be tasked with strategic development and implementation, together with the CEO. Ihamuotila will also be responsible for developing the group management as well as participating in economic and financing affairs of the company.

The current Chairman of the Board Pekka Lundmark announced that he will step down from the Board of Directors, which has lead to the upheaval in Marimekko’s leadership.

Alahuhta-Kasko and Ihamuotila take on their new positions after the company’s annual general meeting on April 9.
